Thurø

Thurø is a Danish island to the south of Funen. The island is shaped like a horseshoe, and has a couple of thousand inhabitants. Thurø is connected to Funen by a small bridge.
This island has become a very popular place to live because of its quiet streets and the fact that it is situated so close to Svendborg and the new freeway to Odense. A lot of people enjoy their holidays on the island - there are three camping places and several houses for rent. The water around the island is a very fine fishing-water with a lot of forellen and other fish. There are several small harbours round the island and Thurøbund - the inner part of the horseshue, is a wellknown safe natur-harbour used by a lot af sailors. Most of the staff at Svendborg Police Department live on this island.
