[edit] Trade
Is Thurrock really an "important international trade centre"? I am not sure about this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.236.9.165 (talk • contribs) .
- It depends if the port at Tilbury is. MRSC 09:54, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merge with Thurrock Development Corporation
Thurrock Development Corporation has no independent notability. JASpencer 09:09, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Living in Thurrock I believe the area is important for trade and development, mainly Lakeside, Blue Circle, and Tilbury, however, the article is a stub and I believe the paragraph could be easily incorporated into the Thurrock main entry Pchurch 10:07, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say don't merge it. We wouldn't merge London Docklands Development Corporation into Docklands. We just need to expand the article on TDC and talk about what they are doing. MRSC • Talk 20:30, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Probably not appropriate to merge. The Thurrock article should be straight geography and history. The UDC is a relatively short-lived political entity with a hugely important but much more specific mandate and purpose. PhilAnderson 13:01, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Although this is a very old discussion, just to add a late comment - I'd consider that, given that UDCs have statutory powers, they have the appearance of a local authority (for certain functions). Given that we consider all local authorities to be inherently notable, I'd consider all UDCs to also be inherently notable. Oppose merge. DWaterson 21:01, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
