This is all very interesting, but which mythology does this belong to? sjc

Pacific Northwest Coast; the version cited appaears to be the Kwakiutl one, although they're all similar. This is a popular story in schools and, at least in my day, was taught to non-native kids.Skookum1 22:25, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
