[edit] Summary

Thuja sutchuenensis foliage and cones.

Fair use rationale
  • This is the only photograph available of this critically endangered species, which is not in cultivation anywhere, nor is there any public access to the few wild trees in China.
  • The photo is from a 1999 press release by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and China's Xinhua News Agency announcing the rediscovery of the species. The image is no longer available on the Kew or Xinhua websites. It is also reproduced on the Gymnosperm Database.
  • The photo is valuable in enabling identification of the species and comparison with related species, notably Thuja occidentalis which has sometimes been sold fraudulently labelled as Thuja sutchuenensis.
