[edit] Deletion discussion for Splinter Theory

Sorry about the confusion on Splinter Theory. It looks like the editor who tried to put it up for deletion didn't know how to complete the process, which would have included giving a reason for the deletion. The problem with the article involves our policy on original research and our guideline on notability. Essentially, as the article itself says, splinter theory has not received much attention yet, which means that it's outside the scope of Wikipedia. Everyone has their own ideas and theories; Wikipedia only covers those that gain enough popularity to be written about in third-party sources (such as newspapers, magazines, books, etc.) Until that happens with Splinter Theory, you might try using a blog, livejournal, or personal website to publicize these ideas.

I'm going to go ahead and complete the nomination; you can comment further on the deletion discussion page. —Celithemis 00:43, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

The article Splinter Theory has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. See Wikipedia:No original research and WP:NFT. NawlinWiki 19:10, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
