Three's a Crowd is a short-lived American television sitcom spinoff of Three's Company. It was, albeit loosely, based on the British TV series Robin's Nest, just as Three's Company had been based on a British series, Man About the House (Robin's Nest had been a spin-off of Man About the House).

In Three's a Crowd, Jack Tripper (played by John Ritter), the lead character from Three's Company, lived with his stewardess girlfriend Vicky Bradford (played by Mary Cadorette), but her father (played by Robert Mandan) didn't approve of him and was constantly trying to disrupt their relationship. Rounding out the cast was Alan Campbell as E.Z. Taylor, Jack's "surfer dude" assistant chef at his bistro; and Jessica Walter as Claudia Bradford, Vicky's mother and James' ex-wife.

Unlike the very popular Three's Company, which lasted eight seasons, Three's a Crowd was canceled after only one season. It was broadcast on the ABC network from September 25, 1984 until April 9, 1985, with reruns appearing in prime time until September 10, 1985.

Daytime reruns aired on ABC for a few months in 1985, followed by another prime time run on USA Network. Some syndicated versions aired under the title Three's Company, Too, using an instrumental version of the theme song of the parent series. Six episodes of the series were aired on TV Land in September of 2006.

Three's a Crowd will air in Canada beginning September 15, 2007 at 6:30pm and 3:30am on Canwest's digial specialty channel, DejaView

[edit] Show's premise

The premise for the show is set up in the final episodes of its predecessor. The character of Vicky is introduced as a love interest of Jack in Season 8, Ep. 20 "Cupid Works Overtime" of Three's Company. In Season 8, Ep. 21 "Friends and Lovers Part 1" Jack asks Vicky if she will marry him and she refuses. It seems as if it's the end for the pair but later Vicky explains that she loves Jack but does not want to be married. Thus the new trio becomes Jack, Vicky, and (as viewer discovers at the end of "Friends and Lovers Part 2") their landlord & Vicky's father, James.
