Thorar is a town in Poonch District, Azad Kashmir. It is located about 18 miles from Rawalakot city, the capital of Poonch district .

Thorar is in the east of Bhalgran, and is connected to Mang by a main road. Its suburbs are Tain, Bhalgran, Nar, Bosa Gala Androt and Chiraan. The literacy rate in Thorar is 89%. It is about 70 kilometres (46 miles) from Kohala, and is also linked to Rawalpindi, Islamabad (via the neighbouring districts of Azad Pattan and Dhalkot), and to Muzaffarabad via Kohalla. Majority of the people in Thorar belong to Sudhun tribe. People are very generous and helpful. There is One Degree College and some private colleges and school for boys and girls, There are some local hospital but need for better hospital here.

There are very few jobs available within Thorar, people are subsistence farmers, some who are lucky enough to find job locally work in schools or services sector in Government of Azad Kashmir, some move to Pakistan to join Pakistan Army. Large number of people from Thorar are in Europe, United States and Middle East.

People of this region play volley ball and cricket.

The town has few good bazaars where all essential commodities of life are easily available.

The town suffered significant damage from the 2005 Kashmir earthquake; although most of the buildings survived, many of them were rendered uninhabitable, and some of the population was left homeless. Most of the houses have been reconstructed though with the help of the Government of Pakistan or Azad Kashmir.

Cuba along with other countries provided medical assistance to the population of Rawalakot
