Thompson Citizen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Thompson Citizen is the longest running newspaper in Thompson, Manitoba. Originally started in 1961 it was bought a few years later by Precambrian Press. Precambrian Press combined its newspaper, the Nickel Belt News with the Citizen to make it the main provider for local news in Thompson.
Grant and Joan Wright ran the operation with their kids until a few years back when Grant died. Joan left most of the operations to Carloyn Wright, who was the managing editor for a number of years.[citation needed]
On January 2, 2007 Precambrian Press sold the Thompson Citizen to Boundary Publishers of Estevan, Saskatchewan. Boundary Publishers is a subsidiary of Glacier Ventures International.
