Thomas Sweeney, a Republican politician, was born in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia, November 18, 1903. Sweeny was a member of the West Virginia Senate 1st District, 1939-42. He was at various times also a candidate for West Virginia state house of delegates, U.S. Senator from West Virginia, and U.S. Representative from West Virginia. He was also a delegate to the Republican National Convention from West Virginia in 1948 and 1960.
