Thomas Sutherland (banker)

Thomas Sutherland (Chinese: 蘇石蘭 1834 - 1922), a Scotsman, was the Hong Kong superintendent for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O). He became the first Chairman of the Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock in 1863, and established The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, the founder member of HSBC Group, in Hong Kong in 1865.
