Thomas J. Kronschnable (died December 15, 1916) was a policeman working for the Los Angeles Police Department. He was shot and killed while chasing a speeding car. He did not realise the occupants were felons, and when he pulled alongside on his motorcycle, was shot by one of the occupants. The shooter fled to Mexico, but later returned to the United States and was imprisoned in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a separate murder charge. He served a twenty-year sentence and was arrested thirty seconds after being released, and was extradited to California to be tried for Kronschnable's murder.[1][2]
