From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

General Thomas Garth (17441829) was chief equerry to King George III of the United Kingdom and is believed to have been the father of an illegitimate child born in 1800 to Princess Sophia Matilda, one of the king's daughters.

General Garth was the younger brother of Charles Garth, MP for Devizes. He rented Ilsington House at Puddletown, which was often visited by the royal family en route for Weymouth.
