[edit] New Mugshot of DeSimone

I've managed to find a "new" mugshot of DeSimone, or at least one I haven't seen anywhere online prior. Not the greatest quality but it's definitely him. I'm putting it in place of the one originally used in this article because it's my understanding the photo originally used was a family photograph, although I could be wrong on that. Regardless if someone wants to revert back to the original photo, and put the new mugshot somewhere else in the article feel free to do so (filename is Thomasdesimone1.JPG). [edit] Corrections

Some minor corrections I’ve added to this article:

  • It’s my understanding that Tommy DeSimone was born in California and moved to New York as a teen. Therefore I believe "California-based" is more accurate than "New York-based," but in order to avoid confusion, I’ve deleted it altogether. If someone could provide a source/footnote to prove me wrong, that's fine.
  • Frank DeSimone was noted as a "lawyer-turned-mobster who was later disbarred." Is there a source for this? California State Bar records show DeSimone as "deceased," not disbarred. Until a source for his disbarment is provided, I'm deleting that detail.

Thanks for your hard work on this article!

[edit] Martin Krugman Murder Allegation

I know it was never proved that he killed Marin Krugman, but he and Angelo Sepe were the only ones there when Krugman disappeared, according to Hill's testimony, and DeSimone disappeared on the 14th January 1979, whereas Krugman disappeared on the 6th January 1979, despite popular belief that Krugman after DeSimone.

Anyone got any ideas about getting another picture of DeSimone?

Forgive me if I am doing this wrong (this is my first post) but I found a glaring temporal discrepancy in this paragraph:

On June 11th 1970, DeSimone killed William "Billy Batts" Devino, a made man who was part of the Gambino crime family. He worked with rising mobster John Gotti. Batts had apparently insulted DeSimone in a bar. In his book Gangsters and Goodfellas, Hill explains that Batts had just gotten out of prison, and while he was incarcerated, Burke had taken over all of his old businesses and illegal enterprises. Batts, who outranked Burke, was attempting to get permission to seize his enterprises back, by force if necessary. The insult, combined with DeSimone's temper and Burke's anger over the possibility of losing money, spurred DeSimone to murder Batts. Jimmy Burke held Batts in place while DeSimone beat his skull in with a .38 revolver. DeSimone, Burke, and an unwitting Hill loaded Batts into the trunk of Hill's 1975 Buick Electra, and were on their way to bury him when Batts woke up; he had to be beaten/stabbed further before he eventually died.

[edit] Devino murder

Although it states that DeSimone killed Devino in 1970, if the book 'Wiseguy' is closely examined it is stated that it was after Henry Hill was arrested for assaulting a man, which happened in early 1968, so therefore it is most likely that DeSimone actually killed Devino in 1968 and not 1970.

In relation to the reference to a 1975 car, it is probably a misprint and should be deleted until further verification of the make can be obtained.

[edit] Disappearance

Although Cookie DeSimone only reported him missing in January of 1979, Tommy actually disappeared in December of 1978, just 1 week after Christmas.

[edit] Hitmen section

I think that DeSimone should be added to the Mafia Hitmen category, under Contract Killers, because he was technically used by the mafia as a hitman.

[edit] First murder, second...sixth murder

Is it really known that those are the only people he killed, or are those simply the specific ones that Henry Hill can account for. I think those sentences need to be reworded.JeffStickney 19:49, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

It might raise an NPOV issue if we were to add this to the article, however the true number of victims for mafiosi such as DeSimone will likely never be truly ascertained, they invariably killed people and never told anyone and equally took credit for what they didn't do, we can only add what it's known he did, in fact the Martin Krugman murder is speculation, it shouldn't be in the article, strictly speaking.

For example, I've heard people say that Richard Kuklinski did a mere 20 hits, when he claims 125, I'd say 20 is an underestimate, however it's quite viable that he didn't kill as many as he said he did. A large part of this respect system subscribed to by mobsters is being seen as fearless and ruthless and for people who can take a life without a qualm, lying comes like second nature.

[edit] Removal of statement

In October 2004, based on the testimony of Joe Massino, the FBI dug out John Gotti's old graveyard called "The Hole," on an empty lot on Ruby Street in Ozone Park, Queens, New York where they found the corpse of Tommy DeSimone, as well as various others, including Tommy's uncle Joseph DeSimone; Sonny Black (who was executed two months after the Donnie Brasco investigation); Phillip "Lucky Philly" Giaccone and Domonick "Big Trin" Trinchera, who were actually murdered by Benjamin Ruggiero; Dominick Napolitano; John "Boobie" Cersani; George Sciasca; Louis Giongetti, and Vito Rizzuto.
Sonny Black's body was discovered in 1982 according to his article. It was his victims who died alongside Sonny Red who were discovered in the hole.[1] Also Joseph Desimone is alive and in prison [2] it was Tommy's brother in law Joe Spinone, not Joseph Desimone, who was found in the hole [3]. Gerlando "George" Sciascia 's body was discovered in 1999 [4]. Vito Rizzuto is still alive [5]. John "Boobie" Cerasani died just this month from cancer [6]. The paragraph needs to be rewritten and source-cited because as it is now it is just too error-riddled to keep.JeffStickney 17:16, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Half of those guys were found elsewhere two decades ago; others aren't even dead! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.169.73.213 (talk • contribs)

Tommy is my great uncle

hey! My mother is (was) a DeSimone, but as far as I know, I'm not related to a Tommy DeSimone. How can this be?Thelordsavenger (talk) 02:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] How was he killed?

How exactly was Tommy murdered? In the book Wiseguy it didn't give any details or mention Thomas Agro. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.171.201.55 (talk) 21:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
