I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

I also notice you're in my neck of the woods. You might like to add Category:Wikipedians in Tyne and Wear and {{User:UBX/Tyne Tees Television}} to your user page so we can make a mini community!

License tagging for Image:2344.jpg Thanks for uploading Image:2344.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to the Tyne Tees articles. Could I please draw your attention to the notices on the upload page, particularly "Do not upload images found on websites... They will be deleted." Thanks. The JPStalk to me 15:16, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. Our image policies can be very complicated and confusing, so thanks for asking this question. I'll keep this as brief and plain as possible.
  1. Wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia. That means contributors (you and I) are donating our time and effort for no reward. It also means that what we produce can be freely reproduced by others. (You might have seen other sites with exact copies of our articles: this is OK, because we are a free content project).
  2. Images taken from websites/scanned from magazines/captured from screen are not free content. They haven't been donated so they can be reproduced. Thus, using unfree images is against our primary goal of creating a free encyclopedia.
  3. We can accept unfree images in cases when it would be impossible to create or obtain a free alternative. This would be under something known as 'fair use'. Images of living people, such as Image:Jonathon Morrell.jpg, would not count as fair use because a free alternative could be created. (An individual could be photographed at a public appearance, or an agent could be contacted to donate an image to be licensed as free, etc.)
I hope this helps. Unfortunately it may initially seem negative as the articles will be without photos for sometime. However, there is a much greater sense of achievement if you do manage to create a free alternative.
Feel free to give me a shout if you have any more queries. The JPStalk to me 15:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

TT Newsroom

Have you noticed the amount of times the bland newsroom is featured since the move to Gateshead? Such a shame that we didn't get that much behind-the-scenes footage of the more interesting City Road studios. The JPStalk to me 17:49, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Oh, by the way, you can sign your posts using four tildes ~~~~ or use the sig button in the toolbar of the edit window (it looks like some of a signature). The JPStalk to me 17:51, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:North_1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:North_1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:2344.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:2344.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jay32183 01:53, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:NVBGg NickelodeonSplat logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NVBGg NickelodeonSplat logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:27, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:NVBGg NickelodeonSplat logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:NVBGg NickelodeonSplat logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:22, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
