[edit] Star Trek?
The article says that the song was inspired by the sounds of Star Trek but Hendrix was living in London at the time and "Third Stone from the Sun" has some resemblance to the Doctor Who theme music composed by Ron Grainer and performed by Delia Derbyshire.
