Johnny Dole & The Scabs

After finding a new drummer on Saturday 22nd January 1977 the remaining members of The Stays were now happy with the completed line-up and started rehearsing.

Soon after, the departure of one of the guitarists due to a differing opinion as to the new direction of the band Johnny Dole & The Scabs was born. Johnny Dole - Lead Vocals, Peter Mullany - Guitar, Dave Berry - Bass/Vocals and Greg Morris - Drums/Vocals.

Having to be called The Strays for their first gig at The Stagecoach Tavern - Sydney on Thursday 24th February 1977 to honour a previous gig commitment, their second gig at The Oxford Funhouse - Darlinghurst on Friday 15th April 1977 was the beginning of what would last for only a short time.

After gigging prolifically at The Grand Hotel - Broadway, The Paris Theatre - Sydney return gigs at The Oxford Funhouse - Darlinghurst and supporting The Saints at The Refectory - Sydney University, interviews on Sydney radio station 2JJ, doing a film clip to Aggro and an interview on Channel 9's A Current Affair televised January 1978 their final gig with the original line-up was supporting Cold Chisel at The Bondi Lifesaver - Bondi Junction on Thursday 9th February 1978.

Short and sweet!
