They Came To Cordura was a 1959 Western film directed by Robert Rossen, starring Gary Cooper, Rita Hayworth, Van Heflin, Tab Hunter, Richard Conte, Michael Callan, and Dick York.
The plot revolves around Gary Cooper's character, U. S. Army awards officer Tom Thorn, obsession with courage. After a cavalry charge during the 1916 U.S. expedition in Mexico to capture Pancho Villa, Thorn recommends 4 men for the Medal of Honor. While returning to Cordura their journey becomes difficult and Thorn reevaluates the heroes and himself.
Dick York suffered a severe back injury during the filming that later caused him to resign from his longtime role of Darrin Stephens on the 1960s television program Bewitched.
