Theodore Alyates

Theodore Alyates was a Byzantine general who commanded the right wing of Emperor Romanus IVs troops at the Battle of Manzikert.

Alyates troops initially withstood the assault of the Seljuk Turks arrows, but when Andronikos Doukas betrayed Romanus, the Turks took advantage of the oppotunity and routed Alyates's men.
