Theodor Waigel

Theodor Waigel (born April 22, 1939) is a German politician of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria party.
Waigel was born in Ursberg. He was federal Finance minister from 1989-1998 under Chancellor Helmut Kohl. From 1972 to 2002 Waigel was a member of the Bundestag. From 1988-1999 he was chairman of the CSU. He is also known as father of the euro, the European currency.
