The rainbow fish

The Rainbow Fish is a legendary creature in Hinduism as large as a whale which ate Vishnu's incarnation Buddha who removed suffering from the world. It was caught by some fishermen who freed Buddha. When the rainbow fish was caught it provided an entire nation with food for a year.

His Red scales were made of fire, his blue ones of ice. The green ones were grass and the yellow lightning.

...The Rainbow Fish is also the title of an internationally popular children's picture book series, which includes: The Rainbow fish, The Rainbowfish to the Rescue, and The Rainbow Fish and a Big Blue Whale, written and illustrated by Marcus Pfister J. and Alison James. Unlike the Hindu legend, this Rainbow Fish has his "special" flashing scales that all the fish adored. Starting out as an extremely arrogant creature that only believed in his "special" scales, as the story goes on, the fish would learn to listen and share.^[1]
