The "Fragas" of the River Eume National Park is a typical Atlantic Forest [1] extends itself with its unique ecosystem and biodiversity throughout the Eume and Ferrol regions of Ferrolterra; amongst the city councils of Pontedeume, A Capela, Monfero and Cabanas. The area was declared a national Park in 1997.
The monastery of Saint John of Caaveiro lies within the park.
