[edit] Title
The title of the book is the first line in a poem created by the titles of all four volumes: The White Stars Warring The Red Sun Crying The Black Scales Rusting The Pale Moon Dying
The poem refers to the Four Horsemen. The First horsemen rides a white horse, hence, White stars, and carries a sword, bringing war. The connections to the first horseman are obvious.
[edit] The Volume
The book makes several profound elements clear for the rest of the series. First, it introduces the Institution, Paul A. Newman, and Paul Shalom. The story entwining these three is made clear in the first volume of the series.
This book contains the famed poem DaCe LuXe VuIa, and many others that make bold apocalyptic proclamations. It is in The White Stars Warring that Paul A. Newman learns how to escape from the Institution and flee from Paul Shalom.
[edit] Poem XXVII
Poem XXVII is entitled the White Stars Warring, and gives a breif explanation of how the cosmos predicts what will happen in human events, and states that the Red Sun will rise and replace the White Stars. As is known, the Red Sun is the center of the second volume.
[edit] Astronomy
As well as apocalyptic citations, the series makes many references to astronomic phenomona.
