The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat

The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat (called The New Adventures of Felix the Cat before release, which has led to it sometimes being referred to as The Twisted Adventures of Felix the Cat) is an animated series starring the classic animated character Felix the Cat, produced for television by Film Roman from 1995 to 1997, and broadcast on CBS. It starred Thom Adcox-Hernandez as the voice of Felix. Later on, he was replaced by Charlie Adler.

It was not the first Felix the Cat series produced for television; that title is claimed by one done in 1958 by Otto Messmer's former assistant, Joe Oriolo. Joe's son, Don Oriolo, also became part of the effort, and was involved in creation of this series as well.

This series, in many ways, reverts back to the silent era shorts, with surreal settings and offbeat character depictions. Felix is also more like his original mischievous adult form, rather than the young and innocent depiction from the 30's and 50's.

The executive producer of this series was Phil Roman and the producer was Timothy Berglund. It is reputed to have been one of the most expensive cartoons ever made by Film Roman.

Producer Timothy Berglund, a director of Rocko's Modern Life for Nickelodeon, aka Timothy Bjorklund, and later executive producer of The Disney Channel's animated series Teacher's Pet and Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, also directed the Disney animated feature Teacher's Pet.
Lynne Naylor, one of the show's directors, was the only female director on staff for Nickelodeon's notorious series Ren and Stimpy.
