The Tenth Level is a 1975 TV-movie starring William Shatner. It is a dramatization of the infamous Milgram experiment from 1961 in which subjects were unknowingly tested to see how much pain (in the form of electric shocks) they were willing to inflict on other human beings.
In the movie dramatization there were actually 100 levels of increasing voltage/pain. However, the so-called tenth level was significant in that it was always the first time in which the actual test subject heard the other (false) test subject cry out in pain.
It was the film debut of actor John Travolta.
