The Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville was a well-known article and speech by Warren Buffett. The article was based on a speech given on May 17, 1984 at the Columbia University School of Business in honor of the 50th anniversary of the publication of Benjamin Graham and David Dodd's book Security Analysis. The speech and article challenged the idea that equity markets are efficient by highlighting the long odds that several examples of market beating performance could all come from individuals trained by the very same teacher, Benjamin Graham.
Warren Buffett cited the following as examples:
- Walter J. Schloss
- Tweedy, Browne Inc.'s Tom Knapp and Ed Anderson
- Buffett Partnership Ltd.
- Sequoia Fund Inc.'s Bill Ruane
- Charles Munger
- Pacific Partners, Ltd. Rick Guerin
- Perlmeter Investments, Stan Perlmeter
