The Sleep Train

Sleep Train is one of the top three mattress retailers in the United States and the largest on the West Coast.[1] It was founded by Dale Carlsen in June 1985. Sleep Train stores carry mattress manufactured by Sealy, Simmons, Select Comfort, Tempur-Pedic, and Stearns and Foster. Sleep Train also carries headboards by Fashion Bed Group and Modus International, as well as a variety of bedding accessories.
Sleep Train, Inc. owns and operates Mattress Discounters West, Sleep Train Mattress Centers and Sleep Country USA.[2] total of more than 210 stores in California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. The company employs more than 1500 people.
In July of 2006, Carlsen announced the purchase of the 55-store Sleep Country USA chain in the Pacific Northwest. Sleep Country USA was formerly owned by the mattress manufacturer Simmons.[3]
In August of 2007, Sleep Train was awarded the title of "Best Mattress/Bed Store" by a reader's poll conducted by the San Diego Union Tribune.[4]
