The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a series of four bestselling young adult novels by Ann Brashares. Released by Random House Publications, the novels tell the continuing story of four girls who acquire a pair of magical jeans that fit all four of them perfectly, even though they're all different shapes and sizes. The four main characters are Bridget (the mighty bee), Lena (the shy and beautiful), Carmen (the drama queen), and Tibby (the rebel). The series follows the girls through the four summers following their sophomore year(age 15) in high school. The series ends with their first summers following college. The four books are The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood, and Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood.

On September 11, 2001, the first book in the series was released on audio cassette. Since then, all four books of the series have been released on audio CD. The last book, Forever in Blue was released on CD on January 9, 2007.
The first book was made into a movie in 2005. The movie stars Alexis Bledel playing Lena, Amber Tamblyn playing Tibby, America Ferrera playing Carmen, and Blake Lively playing Bridget.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, the sequel to the original movie will be coming to theaters August 8, 2008
