The Shed (magazine)

The Shed is an Australian monthly magazine created by Work for the Dole participants of Djerriwarrh Employment & Education Services.
The Australian magazine originally ran from two locations, Melton and St Albans and has been running for about six years (as at January 2008). Described by some as an entertainingly bizarre mix of current affairs, education, stimulating features, humour and Totally Useless Facts (a monthly column in The Shed) it is a voice for the unemployed of northwest Melbourne. A song about The Shed was also composed by the popular local musician, Lez Casha.
During the early hours of November 4th, 2007, an arson attack destroyed The Shed. The magazine and project continue, but the actual Shed itself (from which the magazine drew it's name) is no more.
As of April 2008, The Shed is only running from St Albans, but is still being distributed throughout the North-West of Melbourne - and beyond.

The Shed is also a New Zealand bi-monthly magazine created by Cadenza Publishing as a reflection of the DIY culture and activity of "blokes in sheds" in the New Zealand way of life. Published in Auckland, New Zealand, The Shed magazine features projects in woodwork and engineering, as well as My Shed and Shed of the Month articles, Tool Talk and regular features on topics like welding. The Shed magazine is viewable at the website www.theshedmag.co.nz.
