The Shawshank Redemption is the original soundtrack, on the Sony BMG label, of the 1994 Academy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated film The Shawshank Redemption starring Morgan Freeman, Tim Robbins, Bob Gunton, William Sadler and Clancy Brown. The original score was composed by Thomas Newman.
The album was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score (but lost to the score of The Lion King) and a Grammy Award: "Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television" (but lost to the score of Schindler's List).
