The Rods

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rods is an American heavy metal band formed by David "Rock" Feinstein (guitar and vocals, Garry Bordonaro (bass and vocals) and Carl Canedy (drums and vocals).

Feinstein had first come to mainstream attention after playing in Elf, with his cousin Ronnie James Dio. The Rods sound differed considerably from Elf, adopting a more traditional Heavy Metal sound compared with the Blues-Rock sound that Elf preferred.

Their first album, simply titled "The Rods" featured a black and white picture of the band and was released in 1981. Their second album "Wild Dogs" is an underrated heavy metal classic it was made in 1982. (It was re-released in 2004 with 5 bonus tracks).

The Rods' third album was titled "In the Raw" was made in 1983. In 1984 Carl Canedy and Garry Bordonaro played on Jack Starr's Out of the Darkness album with Rhett Forrester of Riot and Gary Driscoll of Rainbow. Then in 1994 The Rods made their fourth studio album "Let Them Eat Metal" and recorded the album "The Rods...Live". Their album "Heavier Than Thou" was originally released in 1986. There is an album that contains all of its members, entitled "Hollywood - Canedy, Feinstein, Bordonaro, & Caudle".

Canedy is also a renowned producer of heavy metal bands, and his credits include Anthrax's[1] "Armed And Dangerous"and "Spreading the Disease", Exciter's[2] "Violence and Force" and Overkill's[3]"Feel the Fire".

As of 2008, the Rods have announced they are reuniting. They will play their only Scandinavian show of 2008 at the Metal Rock Fest, a brand new two-day event set to take place August 15-16 in Lillehammer, Norway to support a new album which has a tentative release date of May, 2008.
