The Red Chord is a deathcore[1] band from Revere, Massachusetts whose sound incorporates elements of death metal, grindcore and metalcore.[2][3][4] Though that the band has been labeled as deathcore, guitarist Mike McKenzie has said, "Some people call us a grind band. Some people call us a hardcore band. Some people call us a death metal band. We’re not any of them, really. We’re just sort of a noisy band".[5]
Their name signifies a slit throat and was taken from Alban Berg's opera Wozzeck.[6]
