The Queen of Spades is a 1949 fantasy-horror film based on Alexander Pushkin's short story of the same name. It stars Anton Walbrook, Edith Evans and Yvonne Mitchell. A poor Russian officer tries to learn the secret of an aged countess's success at the card table.
Despite a limited budget, it was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best British Film.
