The Profound Desire of the Gods or Deep Desire of Gods or Kuragejima - Legends from a Southern Island (神々の深き欲望 Kamigami no Fukaki Yokubo?) is a 1968 Japanese film by director Shohei Imamura.
[edit] Plot
The film depicts the traditional society that exists on a southern Japanese island, and the events that take place when a Tokyo engineer arrives to build a well for a sugar mill. This is one of Imamura's most ambitious, near-epic films.
