The show typically follows the students' lives during school, during the layout and writing of their paper, and during their free time.
The first episode focused upon the race for the Editor-in-Chief position, which was won by Amanda much to the chagrin of her associate editors. Amanda is intelligent and peace-making, but also rather neurotic, somewhat arrogant, and socially inept.
Her classmates at the newspaper are portrayed as being immature, never seeming to get over small tiffs between their groups. Amanda's friend Alex, considered a strong candidate for the editor-in-chief position, and his turbulent relationship with Amanda is a main point of conflict.
The second episode followed Amanda's struggle with her new position as the new school year started up. Additional episodes detail the group's team building exercises, budding romance between two students, a member running for Homecoming King, college admissions, and an investigation on the football team by two unathletic editors.
