[edit] Plot
At the Sleeptite Pajama Factory the employees are lobbying for a seven-and-one-half cents raise. Management brings in a new superintendent, Sid Sorokin (John Raitt), to keep the peace and to prevent the raise. The employees representative, Babe (Doris Day), takes an instant disliking to Sid. He, however, becomes smitten with her. Meanwhile, Gladys (Carol Haney), secretary to the boss, Hasler, is playing hard-to-get with Vernon Hines (Eddie Foy, Jr.), the company's efficiency expert. Gladys and Sid go to "Hernando's Hideaway" on a pretend-date. Babe warms to Sid. As the employees uncover a fraudulent action on the part of management, they get their raise.
