The Oldershaw School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oldershaw School is a secondary school located in the Liscard area of Wallasey, England. The school is a specialist Business and Enterprise College.

[edit] History

Dr. John Oldershaw founded the School in 1920 and it opened on 11th September, 1920. Extensions to the school were opened on 4th June 1926. The first Headteacher was Mr. H.G. Mayo, M.A.

The school was expanded to include a Lower School in 1982, under the reign of the legendary Mr K. R. M. Williams (aka 'Batman'), at the site of the old St. Hilda's School in Ormond Street. Mr. Henderson was in charge for these two years (1 and 2 in old money, years 7 and 8 now). House ties were also scrapped for these new years although the school houses still nominally existed (Durham, York, Lancaster the other one)

The Lower School was later moved to the same site as the main school in time for the autumn term in 2000 (And the Lower School site demolished to make way for new housing)

[edit] Forms

The current forms of the school are Fir, Oak, Ceeder, Maple, Poplar, Beech and Elm and the current headteacher is Steven James Peach.
