The Oddventures of Mr. Cool is the 7th studio album of the Philippines' premier rap artist Francis Magalona released in 1998. It foregoes the gritty guitar and explores mellow, urban-style rapping, often reinforced by soulful choruses. Francism keeps aware of the latest trends in rap, and it's a safe bet he has listened to American rap band Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, including their 1997 The Art of War (album). A few of the choruses on the The Oddventures of Mr. Cool are sampled from Western artists, including Whodini's "Friends and Stangers," as heard on "Friends" here, but Francism writes or co-writes most of the material. His rapping is voluble, and he explores a multitude of topics, including a tribute to past soul artists, as heard on "Old Skool." The Oddventures of Mr. Cool is another strong Francism album.
