The Need is a four-piece eclectic pop rock band from Columbus, Ohio. Formed in 2006 by Garrett McArthur and Danny Mareco, the band will release their first album with Delfi Music Group (Universal) in 2008.

The Need currently consists of Garrett McArthur (Lead Vocals, Pianio, Guitars), Danny Mareco (Guitars, Background Vocals), Jonathan Beveridge (electric bass, upright bass, keys, background vocals) and TJ Hartmann (Drum Set & Misc. Percussion).

Previous to The Need, McArthur and Mareco played in Garrett Found Three originating from Garrett McArthur's obsession with threesomes in 2006. The band consisted of McArthur (lead vocals, piano, guitars), Mareco (lead guitar, background vocals), Mitchell Ammar (bass guitar), and Brandon Hess (drums). The band relocated to Los Angeles, where the played a number of shows on the Sunset Strip and recorded with producer Dan Ericson. They played an industry showcase at The Key Club and were introduced to producer Tom Keane. Pending several meetings with Keane, McArthur and Mareco ended Garrett Found Three, revamped their musical style, and pulled in fellow Ohioans TJ Hartmann and Jonathan Beveridge to form The Need.
They currently are signed with Delfi Music Group (Universal), and are in the studio with two great producers {Tom Keane (Chicago, Barbara Streisand, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Kahn, Kanye West, etc.) and Wyn Davis (Guns N Roses, Sublime, No Doubt, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, MuteMath, etc.} making their debut album.
The Need are noted for their MySpace profile which led them to become the number one hated unsigned band in Ohio for all three genre's they encompass.

The Need is a four-piece band with an eclectic group of instruments used in the line up, including:
- Vocals (lead, back-up, & background)
- Piano (acoustic, synths, keyboard, Rhodes, Moog, etc.)
- Gutiars (electric and acoustic - lead, rhythm, filling)
- Percussion (drum set, misc.)
- Strings (cello, violins, violas, upright bass)
