The Mighty Aires are a gospel "QUARTET" Group out of Wilmington, Delaware.

Though they started out as the Tri-State Gospel Aires, changes to the name were due to personnel changes. The name "Mighty Aires" were given to them by Now head songwriter (then drummer) Chuck Finney. Chuck was 8 years old when he was sitting down watching his favorite cartoon Mighty Mouse and the group had been trying to figure out a new name for themselves. So Chuck took "Mighty" from Mighty Mouse and Aires from the existing name that they already had. Though the Aires Have been singing for 28yrs Bassist,lead/background singer and head songwriter Chuck Finney says, "it's now that the Mighty Aires is getting their start". They are known for having the Baddest Guitarist in the nation Curtis Clack AKA "Da captain", the most steppinest background singer in Bonita Finney, they also are known having the two best old school, down home, make you wanna shout singers in the world and that's "Mom" Rosetta Finney and "POP" Deacon Sylvester Finney. Another great thing about the Mighty Aires is that they are a family group who have committed their lives to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. Their first album "Lift Me Up" contained Hymns such as, "Without God", Eye is on the Sparrow, as well as Near the Cross. It also contained a few cover songs such as "He stoof by my side, so glad you found me, still holding on,can't even walk and a couple others. But the Title track "Lift Me Up" was the first written song that the Mighty Aires recorded which was written by then Drummer Chuck Finney and Lead Guitarist Curtis clack.

Personnel:

The Mighty Aires started out with group members Shirley Young,Bill Riley,Rosetta Finney, and Bonita Finney. With Curtis Clack (lead guitarist) on drums. it wasn't until 2 years later that the Aires had added a young Charles Finney to play the drums, do to personnel changes and Curtis on lead guitar. In 1991 The Mighty Aires added a young lady by the name of Lekeisha Miller. By this time the group had changed its personnel to Rosetta Finney,Deaccon Finney, Bonita Finney,Lekeisha Miller,Curtis Clack, and Charles Finney. Though many people may think Deacon Finney has always been a part of the Aires he hasn't. It wasn't until around 1982 that he had left the Southern Gates and joined the Mighty Aires to be with his family. Deacon Finney started out as the Spokesperson/M.C. for the Aires, then after personnel changes he became the lead singer for them. The Mighty Aires has also recorded various 45's and Cassette tapes prior to their official debut 1994 album "Lift Me Up". By 1994 The Mighty Aires had established what they thought was a permanent line-up. It was in 2003 that lead/background singer Lekeisha Miller had left the group, after recording the Aires 3rd album "Not Tired Yet", recorded in 2002,2 songs in which she led, "Can't tell it all", and "You did it all for me". Both were written for her by Chuck Finney. Keisha left the group to pursue Ministry, which she says was God's destiny for her life. After that and up until now The Mighty Aires have continued on without keisha and have truly gotten on their way, starting with their second live recording and first DVD "Breakthrough".
