The Magnificent Seven was a TV series based on the 1960 movie. It aired between 1998 and 2000. It was filmed in Newhall, California. The pilot was filmed in Mescal, Arizona and the Dragoon Mountains of Arizona, near Tombstone.

Seven cowboys, each with their own distinct characteristics, fight together for the underdog.

[edit] Chris Larabee (Michael Biehn)
Larabee is closely based on the "Chris Adams" character played by Yul Brynner in the original film. He lost his wife and son in a fire some time before the start of the series and this has turned him into a reserved but deadly individual.

Eric Close who bears some resemblance to Steve McQueen took over the role of Vin.

Ezra is a Southern card shark with elements of Lee (Robert Vaughn) and Harry Luck (Brad Dexter).

A former gunfighter and preacher who has trouble forgiving himself for acts he committed in the past.

Nathan was a former slave who served as a stretcher-bearer in the Civil War, and learned a great deal about medicine during that time.

J.D. came from the East Coast where his mother was a servant and he served as a stable-boy, his mother saved money to send him to college, but there wasn't enough, so instead he came out West to become a gunfighter.

Buck is the ladies man of the group and will take any opportunity to flirt with the ladies.

Many of the stars of The Magnificent Seven have played significant roles in science fiction movies and TV:
- Michael Biehn had lead roles in science fiction movies The Terminator, The Abyss and Aliens before becoming Chris Larabee.
- Eric Close played the lead role in Dark Skies before The Magnificent Seven and in Now and Again and Taken after it.
- Dale Midkiff was the lead in Time Trax, and Pet Semetary and guested in The Outer Limits before The Magnificent Seven.
- Anthony Starke had lead roles in the movies Return of the Killer Tomatoes!, and Repossessed and on TV in The Flash, The Pretender and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr..
- Ron Perlman has had many lead roles including the movies Star Trek Nemesis, Hellboy and Blade II. On television he is best known as Vincent on Beauty and the Beast.
- Rick Worthy has guested in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica.
- Andrew Kavovit had guested in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Touched by an Angel and stared in Meeksville Ghost.
- Laurie Holden played Marita Covarrubias in The X-Files.
