The Lieutenant of Inishmore

The Lieutenant of Inishmore is a black comedy by playwright Martin McDonagh, who wrote the Tony award winning play, The Pillowman.
The Lieutenant of Inishmore was first produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company in London in 2001. It also ran at the Lyceum Theatre, on Broadway. The opening night cast included Jeff Binder, Andrew Connolly, Dashiell Eaves, Peter Gerety, Domhnall Gleeson, Brian d'Arcy James, Alison Pill, and David Wilmot. It was directed by Wilson Milam. It closed on September 3, 2006.[1]
The play mainly discusses bloody comedy and sentiment for Padraic's cat, Wee Thomas. It mainly concern the National Liberation army who fought for Ireland.
Its most recent run was at the Alley Theatre, in the Theater District of Houston, TX. It ran from January 25th to February 24th, 2008.
In the Broadway version, six gallons of fake blood (made from a mixture of peanut butter, chocolate syrup, and corn syrup) were used at each performance.
It will be playing from Friday, April 25, to Saturday, May 3 at the San Jose State University Theatre (http://www.tvradiofilmtheatre.com/tour103.html). A new production is being planned at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia from September 23rd to November 9th, 2008.
