The Last Days of Left Eye is a documentary directed by Lauren Lazin which premiered on VH1 and VH1 Soul on May 19, 2007. It is centered around the life, last days spent in spiritual retreat in Honduras, and April 25, 2002 accidental death of rapper/singer/actress Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, featuring prehumously-narrative insight and commentary from interviews of the singer.

[edit] Lisa and The Little Boy
During the course of filming the documentary, Lisa and a few friends were passengers in a vehicle driven by her assistant when a small boy ran out in front of the vehicle and was struck. The child died later that night. Lopes offered to pay the the funeral costs for the family. After the funeral, Lopes was given the boy's shoes, and remarked to the cameraman, "His last name was Lopez. Isn't that something?" She also explained her fears that a spirit had been stalking her to do harm, but thought that the spirit made a mistake and killed the child rather than her.
[edit] Accident
The video of Lopes' fatal accident, taken from within the Mitsubishi Pajero that rolled over into the grass, was intentionally edited by the director at the request of the singer's family so as to show only the procession of events in the vehicle prior to the moment of impact. The film has led to speculation that Lopes had possibly intended to commit suicide in the accident[citation needed] though this would conflict with Lisa's belief that suicide was a selfish easy way out. The lyrics on her song, "Life is Like a Park" state: "Never suicide, that's the easy route, there's always another way out, think about it." The coroner who performed her autopsy ruled her death as an accident.
[edit] Controversy
The documentary has caused a great deal of controversy because of Lisa's last moments of life being caught on tape, as well as her and passengers' in the truck screaming. In a recent interview, Lisa's sister, Reigndrop Lopes stated that Lisa knew she was going to die. Reigndrop said her sister had visions and dreams of cars and accidents and that she felt an evil spirit was after her. Wanda Lopes, their mother, also had premonitions of Lisa's death. She had visions but kept them to herself until after Lopes' untimely death. Wanda Lopes joined Lisa in her fast, which ended prior to her death.
Reigndrop also talked about the cards Lisa handed back to her (she was the one who requested them.) At first, Reigndrop blamed herself, thinking had she not asked Lisa for the cards, this never would have happened. Reigndrop stated in the interview that she came to realize that Lisa's death was meant to happen and that she was not responsible for the tragedy.

Reigndrop Lopes confirmed that a DVD will be released and confirmed that a new Left Eye album will be released. [1]
