Clark, Perry, Jack, and Jimmy try to figure out who really set off the explosion at the Daily Planet, while Lois worries about her wedding. Before the wedding begins, Lex traps Superman in a kryptonite cage.

- The title is a references to The Fall of the House of Usher, a story by Edgar Allan Poe.
- Phyllis Coates, who plays Lois's mother in this episode, played Lois Lane from 1952 to 1953 on Adventures of Superman.
- This is the last appearance of Chris Demetral as Jack and Michael Landes as Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy is portrayed for the next three seasons by Justin Whalin.
- This marks John Shea's last appearance as a main character.
