The Group (novel)

The Group is a 1963 novel by American novelist Mary McCarthy. It made the New York Times Best Seller list in 1963. [1]

The novel takes place during the depression and follows the fortunes of a group of 1933 Vassar College graduates. Various chapters focus on the lives and views of different individuals within the group, exploring and satirizing many of the ideas and ideals of upper-class society at the time.[2]

It was adapted as a film in 1966 directed by Sydney Lumet.
