The Great Urban Race is an urban adventure race in which teams of two navigate cities while completing various physical and mental challenges.[1]
The Great Urban Race launched in the summer of 2007 and has since expanded to a 20 city tour and $10,000 Grand Prize in 2008, visiting most major metropolitan areas in the United States throughout the year.[2]

[edit] Rules
Teams of two must complete 11 of 12 clues given in a sealed envelope. Public transportation, high-tech devices, and a phone-a-friend are encouraged during the event.[3]
[edit] Sample Clues
1. The OMC song that starts,
“Brother Pele's in the back Sweet Zina's in the front Cruising down the freeway In the hot, hot sun.”
Take the second word of the title, and then take its near phonetic equal.
Go to the one ‘del mundo’.
In this general area, find a postcard that says ‘Old Town’ and return to the finish line with it.
2. Take a photo of a person playing a guitar.
Or…
Take a photo of a stranger (non-Great Urban Race participant) wearing a Los Angeles Clippers Elton Brand jersey.
3. Find the Great Urban Race staff in City Park.
Work together to assemble the 84-piece jigsaw puzzle of the United States.
When finished, take a photo of the completed puzzle.
The photo must clearly show you properly completed the puzzle.
