The Gonzaga Bulletin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gonzaga Bulletin is a student-run weekly newspaper published at Gonzaga University. The paper has an estimated weekly circulation of 3,000. Generally the newspaper employs around 14 students as page editors for one semester. Writers are typically members of the staff or students from various Journalism courses at the university. The editor-in-chief changes with each new semester -- meaning the tone of the newspaper and its quality also faces change. The newspaper is edited and layed out on Wednesday nights and distributed on Friday mornings.
The editor-in-chief for summer and fall 2008 is Steven Sandberg, a senior broadcasting major and journalism minor from Portland, Ore. Sandberg previously was a sports columnist and sports editor of the paper.
[edit] Content
The Gonzaga Bulletin ordinarily publishes a 12-to-14 page edition (depending on advertising space). The News and Sports sections are largest, but the paper also has healthy A&E and Opinion sections.
A newly added Online Exclusives section that can only be accessed at the newspaper's Web site, www.gonzagabulletin.com [1], features game recaps from basketball home games and various other breaking news.
- On April 15, 2008, Sandberg and co-sports editor Tony Schick first broke the news of Jeremy Pargo's decision to declare for the 2008 NBA Draft. The story was published online by the paper before the local Spokane, Washington media broke the story.
