'The Forest 'is a Cambodian 2002 Monster Thriller film Directed by Heng Tola, The Director of Khmer Blockbuster films, such as Gratefulness and Neang Neath. It nominated for many awards in The Khmer national film festival but won for best special effect.

A group of young archaeologists go into the deep forest at Ratanakiri provice, to seek for the old temple that abandoned many years ago. As they go through the Forest, they suddenly get lost and meet a group of rubber(workers??) who want to find the treasure but it not dangerous to them until there are a giant snake and many kind of dangerous Monster that stayed here for hundred years ago because of the cursed that a princess who was lost in the waterfalls while there were the rubbers who wantes her treasure. Many of the archaeologists and the rubbers died in the forest so the suvivers have no safeway to return, only face those Monters to escape.

This film is the first khmer monster film. It produced and distributed by Campro production, one of the khmer best production.

In this film, The Giant snake is truly as a python but they puted the effect on it to make it look big. Several scenes of the film are used the special effect to make everything look unbelievable.

The film plot is about the journey to Ratanakiri but the Location to shoot in this film is some part of Mondulkiri Province. There also were the appearance of indigenous peoples in this film.

This film released in only one cinema in cambodia while another khmer famous film snake king's grandchild the sequel of Snaker released in 4 cinema. But The forest still grossing well in khmer box office as all the ticket have sold out in its opening weekend, considered one of the most successful films in the begin of 2005 in Cambodia.

This film is one of 4 films that Campro production brought to nominated in many awards at Khmer National film festival. It received one award as the best special effect and another Campro production's film,Gratefulness, received three awards as Best Young actress, Best shooting and the iron award as the good picture while the best movie go to The Crocodile by Hang meas production.
