The Enchanted Gardens is an area in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
The Enchanted Gardens is located on a natural river gorge with 14 waterfalls on 8 hectares of land in Ocho Rios, St. Ann. Jamaica. There is a nature walk a wide variety of local plants and jungle like atmosphere. There is also an exotic aviary featuring rare birds, scenic ponds and a sea-water aquarium.[1]
There is also a mothballed resort at this location. It was originally owned by former Prime Minister Edward Seaga. The resort was forced to close their doors shortly after 9-11 due too excessive debt and tax issues.[2]
Though the resort is not open, the grounds are still being tended to by a skeleton staff. Those interested in viewing the gardens, can pay a nominal admission fee that helps with the upkeep of the gardens and the avairy.
Carnival Cruise lines offers an excursion tour of the gardens, but you can visit the gardens on your own as well. The fee for viewing the garden was $12 as of January 2008 and the following image is of the pool was taken at that time.
