The Dreamwalker's Child (2005) is the first novel by Steve Voake and published by Faber Children's Books. It was shortlisted for the Stockton Children's Book of the Year Award.[1]

Sam starts out as a kid who is obsessed with bugs. Then a tragic accident happens, Sam is hit by a bus and is put into a coma. He finds himself in Aurobon, a world much like the Earth only a lot smaller. Captured by the evil Emperor Odoursin, the lord of Vermia, Sam, with the help of Skipper, a brave, adrenalin-loving girl pilot from the bastion of good, Vahlzi, escapes, and stop Odoursin from wiping out all of humanity. Along the way, Sam and Skipper develop a close friendship.
