The Dark Times refer to the era in the fictional Star Wars universe during which the grip of Palpatine's Galactic Empire tightened around the galaxy. The era began with Order 66, and the subsequent Great Jedi Purge. It arguably ended with the death of the Emperor in Return of the Jedi. The Star Wars Live-Action TV series, set for production in 2007, is to be set during the Dark Times in the chronological period between the two movie trilogies. As of now, few books have been written or are scheduled to be written in this era. The "Coruscant Nights" Trilogy by Michael Reaves was set to make its debut on April 26 2006.
